HISPANIC-AMERICAN YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
CRITERIA
Open to all students K-12. This is an extra-curriculum activity. Students willing
to participate must have at least a 2.5 grade point average and a good or better
grade in conduct. Students will actively participate in classroom presentations,
vocation orientations as well as a graduating play.
GOAL
To encourage students of all ages to understand what it takes to be a leader and
a good American citizen in regards to the commitment, dedication, education
and social behavior than one must posses. To motivate and encourage Hispanic-
American students to follow in the steps of so many successful professionals of
Hispanic descend.
THE PROGRAM
Is a mix of classroom type curriculum, where the students will hear real life
stories of Hispanic-Americans that have achieved success in life while being
good examples in their communities, with students participating in expressing
their thoughts thru essays, music or art; and finally, as actors and actresses in a
graduating play.
THE PLAY
This will be the high-point of the program, where students will perform their own
choices of characters and professions. The script and the direction of the play
will be done in conjunction with the PHD Advisory Council and the Corp of
Volunteers from NHEF.
GRADUATION
Students that have at least an 80% participation and attendance record will
received at the end of the program a Certificate of Merit for their successful
graduation of the NHEF Hispanic-American Youth Leadership Program. Special
honors, recognition and rewards may be given to the best in the class. All
students will received upon successful completion a bumper sticker that will
read: “My son is a Hispanic-American leader”.
